Women's Wrestling Has A Home In The Pacific Northwest!
Welcome to Avidity Women's Wrestling Academy! The first wrestling academy exclusively for girls and women. After many years in many environments Founder and Head Coach, Tony Welch (father of 3 daughters) had a revelation. As the fastest growing sport in the country, spaces for women to explore the sport and feel comfortable doing so were limited. While several clubs in the area allow girls to wrestle, none have made space for them to call their own. At best, they hold 1 or 2 "girls only" practices per week then invite boys to participate in those practices as well.
For Coach Welch, this wasn't quite good enough. For years he has worked tirelessly to find space that girls and women could call their own. In 2022, Avidity Women's Wrestling Academy was chartered through USA Wrestling. This was the first step toward bringing the idea to life!

Our vision is inspired by the tireless work of the staff at Wrestle Like A Girl. We aim to empower women through wrestling. This vision isn't limited to supporting and coaching athletes. As Katie Kriebel once stated, "We need women to take up space in all aspects of women's wrestling." The leadership at Avidity aims to fully embrace this statement.
In an effort to live out this statement, here is what we provide:
-Little Sisters: Intro to wrestling for girls 4 to 12 years old.
-Intermediate and advanced athlete training.
-One-on-one coaching.
-Coaches training.
-Referee training.
-Nutrition coaching (through nutrition coaching partner).
-Mindset / sports psychology coaching (through mindset / sports psychology partners).
We aim to provide all aspects of training for girls and women to pursue success at whatever level they aspire to! Have fun and get in shape? This is for you! Develop high-level skills and strategies to pursue college or international competition? We can get you there too! Maybe wrestling as an athlete isn't interesting to you.
